Amanda Markel is an internationally collected bronze sculptor and visual storyteller. Within each sculpture, Markel employs the use of positive and negative space to illustrate a connection between the positive and negative elements of life. “I think most often my work depicts the tension between two pieces of a whole. Pain and beauty create a piece about resilience. Feeling a full range of intense emotions and learning to balance them creates a piece about harmony. I want people to understand that without a negative there isn’t a positive. We need both, and they are inseparable.” She
